BIG PILOT’S WATCH PERPETUAL CALENDAR TOP GUN CERATANIUM - The Big Pilot's Watch Perpetual Calendar TOP GUN Ceratanium is the first timepiece from IWC to feature a Ceratanium bracelet. Light and robust like titanium and at the same time similarly hard and scratch-resistant like ceramic: Developed by IWC over five years, Ceratanium boasts unique properties. In addition, this innovative new material also impresses with its biocompatibility and striking matte black colour. These same characteristics are crucial for the Big Pilot's Watch Perpetual Calendar TOP GUN Ceratanium. For the first time, IWC has manufactured not only the case and crown but also the bracelet from Ceratanium. Since this material is based on a titanium alloy, the bracelet is around 30 per cent lighter than steel. As a result, it feels pleasant on the skin and is highly comfortable to wear. The black dial with grey imprinting and black hands support the all-black technical design. Inside the 46-millimetre case, the IWC-manufactured 52615 calibre is at work. The movement can be admired through the tinted sapphire glass back. Its Pellaton winding mechanism has been reinforced with components made of virtually wear-free ceramic and builds up a power reserve of seven days in two barrels. Via a single nightly switching impulse, the base movement drives the perpetual calendar module. The intricate mechanical programme automatically recognises the different lengths of the months and the leap years and will function without adjustment until 2100. Another IWC speciality is the unique moon phase display at 12 o'clock, which shows the moon accurately for viewers in both the northern and southern hemispheres. Its reduction gears are so precise that the display will only deviate by one day in 577.5 years.
