Honouring OMEGA’s legacy of space exploration, this Speedmaster Grey Side of the Moon features a 44.25 mm case in polished-brushed grey ceramic with a plasma treatment. The brushed bezel is also made from grey ceramic and features a laser-engraved tachymeter scale that is filled with white Super-LumiNova.
Beneath the front sapphire crystal, OMEGA’s connection to the moon is celebrated via the specially decorated movement, which is laser-ablated on the main plate and bridges to represent the moon’s surface. The near side can be seen on the skeletonized grey anodised aluminium dial, while the far side can be seen through the caseback.
The design includes a small-seconds display at 9H, a 30-minute recorder at 3H, and a 12-hour recorder at 6H. The Moonwatch style hands and bevelled indexes are all greyed and filled with white Super-LumiNova (green emission).
The specially decorated movement is the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3869, while the engravings on the caseback include the quote, THE MOON IS ESSENTIALLY GREY, which is attributed to Command Module Pilot, Jim Lovell, during the Apollo 8 mission.
The watch is worn on a grey nylon fabric strap with black rubber lining, a ceramic foldover clasp and ceramised titanium frame-spring folders.
