The Pilot’s Watch Automatic 41 George Russell is housed in a 40-millimetre case crafted from black zirconium oxide ceramic, a material IWC Schaffhausen pioneered during the 1980s. Ceramic is significantly lighter than steel and highly scratch-resistant, making it an attractive material for wristwatches. The crown is made of Ceratanium®, an IWC-developed material that combines the lightness and structural integrity of titanium with a hardness and scratch-resistance similar to ceramic. The black dial features printed indices and numerals in a distinctive blue shade, which is inspired by the predominantly blue design of George Russell’s racing helmet. The black hands are filled with Super-LumiNova® in the same colour. At work inside the case is the IWC-manufactured 32112 calibre with a double-pawl winding system and a power reserve of 120 hours. The watch is fitted with a blue rubber strap with EasX-CHANGE® system. This watch is limited to 1063 pieces, a nod to the starting number 63 that Russell has raced with since the beginning of his career.
